Funky President Impeachment! by Rico Shino

Being that we appear to be at the onset of Trump’s impeachment proceedings, it’s only right that I share the backstory of a funky little ditty from 1973 that lobbied for former President Nixon’s own impeachment trial. History is definitely repeating. My throwback interview with Roy C was recently reprinted in the special collector’s edition of Wax Poetics’ print relaunch issue in Europe. Thread at Yale University! by Rico Shino

My experience this summer with the Thread program at Yale University has been nothing short of amazing. I’m grateful to have been fortunate enough to take advantage of such an enriching, life changing experience. As a storyteller working in various mediums, the Thread program enabled me to connect the dots between various narrative modes and exponentially strengthen the capacity of my storytelling. It goes without saying that it will have a dynamic impact on my work going forward. Stay tuned.

We The People acquired by the Smithsonian Institution! by Rico Shino

I'm honored to announce that my photojournalism/ oral history project We The People: The Citizens of NYCHA in Pictures + Words has been acquired by the Smithsonian Institution. The collection will be archived at the Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum location in Washington, DC. My creative partner Shino Yanagawa and I are elated that these photos and oral histories will live on in the Smithsonian's vast permanent collection. Our main goal upon inception of the project was to provide a platform for voices to echo into spaces they'd been long been ignored by. Now their stories are permanently etched into the annals of history and will perpetually debunk the myth for generations to come.
